For anything related to CityAlert — questions, data issues, partnerships, press, or abuse reports — email contact@cityalert.live. Our crawler identifies itself as CityAlert/1.0 (+https://cityalert.live) and only polls public RSS feeds and documented open-data APIs.
Publisher takedown requests
CityAlert aggregates headlines and links from public RSS feeds — it never republishes article text or images (see Sources & attribution). If you publish one of the feeds we read and would like it removed, or want your headlines handled differently:
- Email contact@cityalert.live with the subject line "Takedown", the feed URL or publication name, and how you can verify you represent the publisher (e.g. email from the publication's domain).
- We acknowledge verified requests within 2 business days and remove the feed and its derived incidents within 5 business days.
- Blocking our crawler via robots.txt or feed access controls also works — we honor it.
Corrections & community-report flags
Community-submitted reports and media-derived incidents can be wrong — locations are approximate and details are unverified. To flag an inaccurate, defamatory, or sensitive report:
- Email contact@cityalert.live with the subject "Correction", the incident title or a screenshot, and what's wrong.
- We aim to review flags within 2 business days; reports involving personal information or safety concerns are prioritized.
- Confirmed-bad reports are removed; media-derived items are corrected by fixing or removing the geocoded point — the underlying article stays with the publisher.
Privacy requests
For access, correction or deletion of personal information under PIPEDA, email contact@cityalert.live with the subject "Privacy request". See the Privacy Policy for what we store.
Emergencies
CityAlert is not an emergency service and this inbox is not monitored in real time. For emergencies call 911 (or your local equivalent) and follow official channels — Environment Canada, Alert Ready, the National Weather Service, and local authorities.
