Live Wildfire Map — Active Fires & Satellite Hotspots Worldwide
CityAlert's fire layer combines confirmed wildland-fire incidents from the US National Interagency Fire Center (WFIGS/IRWIN), the BC Wildfire Service and the Canadian Wildland Fire Information System with NASA FIRMS VIIRS satellite hotspots — near-real-time thermal detections worldwide — and fire calls geocoded from emergency dispatch logs and local media. Every marker is labelled by source so you can tell an agency-confirmed incident from a possible satellite detection.
Wildfires on the map right now
Wildfire incidents and satellite hotspots refresh roughly every 15 minutes; media-derived fire reports every 30.

Frequently asked questions
How current is the wildfire map?
NASA FIRMS hotspots, NIFC incident locations and BC Wildfire Service data refresh about every 15 minutes, CWFIF every 30, and media-derived fire reports every 30. This page itself regenerates every 10 minutes; the live map auto-refreshes in the browser.
What's the difference between a satellite hotspot and a confirmed wildfire?
NASA FIRMS detects thermal anomalies from orbit — most are real fires, but some are industrial heat or agricultural burns. NIFC, BC Wildfire Service and CWFIF entries are agency-confirmed incidents. Each marker on CityAlert is labelled with its source.
Which areas have the deepest wildfire coverage?
The United States is covered nationwide by the NIFC/IRWIN incident feed, Canada by CWFIF and the BC Wildfire Service, and the rest of the world by NASA FIRMS satellite detections and EONET natural-event tracking.
Does CityAlert show evacuation orders or fire perimeters?
CityAlert maps incident points and links back to the source agency for each fire — follow the linked NIFC, BCWS or provincial pages for perimeters, evacuation alerts and official guidance.
